Have you ever...?

Have you ever walk past a physically-challenged person without helping? Have you ever sat on a seat in the MRT even though u noticed someone who needs it more than u standing beside you?

I wun ask for an answer.. but it just make me ponder.. do we really know how they feel? Do they need our help? Do they need our sympathy? I really have no answer to that...

Imagine.. if a wheelchair bound person need to go up a slope. Will he/she prefer to do it on his/her own? Or will he/she rather have someone to help or even offer to help? Sometimes we just think that we should treat them like the same as us... but are we really the same? Even when we need help, will we even ask? Or will people actually offer to help? I believe this is the same dilemma we are all facing..

On the MRT, do the old ladies/men really need the seat? Do they feel "insulted" if you offer them the seat? do we always have to judge people by their cover? What if the person who is sitting down is suffering from some leg problems.. and unable to stand for a long time? He may look perfectly fine to us but do we blame him for not giving up his seat to an old man who is old but is healthy than he is?

Just some food for thought... open for discussion...

Old Fogey... Alan
